Seed The Ground

We are a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission.  Our main founders are Jess and Nat, who you will soon see riding the streets of Miami, picking up buckets of spent coffee grinds from our local cafes and heading back to the compost hub.  We’re working with Quade and Co, Daymaker and STreat Cafes to divert their waste from landfill and we’re always on the look out for more passionate cafes to work with on our first 6 month pilot project.

Our mission is to shake up the community and get composting in the forefront of everyone’s minds.  But it doesn’t stop there.  Our goal is to use the finished compost to regenerate areas that might have been neglected in Miami and to work with shopfronts, cafes and restaurants to plant greenspaces that create amazing atmosphere and help our environment.
We dream of a community that understands the importance of managing waste appropriately and who are actively involved in the circular economy of the compost hub.

Nat, who grew up on a farm, is a passionate advocate for the environment and for our Miami area to remain pristine and enjoyed by our community.  She’s travelled the world working in the Arts and if she had her way we’d be wearing red overalls and dancing our way through the compost hub – which one day we will hopefully do!  She brings the compost hub to life with her ideas and we couldn’t do it without her.

Jess is a physio, and is also studying permaculture.  She’s the science to Nat’s creativity and together they make a great team.  She manages the compost and most of the time you’ll see her with a pitchfork turning compost or randomly picking up leaves from the side of the road to use in the compost.  Yep, you guessed it….she loves compost!
