Capital Scraps is a social enterprise (not for profit) driven by the purpose to reduce Canberra’s greenhouse gas emissions. We provide a low-emissions option for recycling household kitchen scraps and contribute to greening our city.
Carefully considered climate impact: well designed composters built from recycled hardwood, post-consumer buckets for scraps collections, best practice composting, scraps pick-up by bike.
By consolidating scraps from multiple households we are able to carry out hot composting (over 60 degrees C), creating valuable soil amendment in under a month. Together we’re better!
Capital Scraps was started by Brook Clinton. Brook has a PhD in biodegradation and is motivated by direct climate benefit and wider social benefits of composting at the community scale.
